Card Messages to Write in a Cancer Get Well Card

When someone has cancer, it can be difficult to know what to write in a get well card. It is especially difficult if you think the person's prognosis is not good. Being negative about their chances of remission is not an option, although you can get a thinking of you card instead.

Use the following get well messages to help you figure out what to write. If one of these is close to what you want to say in your card, just edit it to make it fit.
  • I’m praying for you as you face the uncertainty of the outcome of your health testing. I’m praying for peace, comfort, and strength.
  • Medical tests can be extremely scary and nerve racking. I want you to know that I am willing to be there with you any time, or if you want to just call to talk, I am here.
  • There’s nothing I can think to say except that I love you and that I am praying for you. I’m here to help in any way you can think of that I can help.
  • Finding out that you have cancer has been an extremely scary thing for me. I don’t know how to feel any better in any way besides spending time with you. Let me know when it is a good time, because I would really like to hang out with you.
  • I’ve been praying for you diligently that you be healed, pain free, and have a sense of peace. Unfortunately, I think I need prayer for peace also. Please pray for me as I worry and continue to pray for you.
  • Only God can know and be in control of situations like what you are going through, and I am glad for that. God promises that “All things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to his purpose.” I know you love Him and are called for His purpose.
  • I want to share this verse from the Bible with you, which is my prayer for you. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” –Numbers 6:24-26
  • I’m sorry you have to go through the treatments you are going through. I want you to know that I love you very much and would love to get together and hang out sometime soon. I’ll be calling you in the next week to make plans with you.
  • You top my list of things I love the most in this world, and it scares me to think about the possibility that you could be taken away from me. We never know how long we get to keep the gifts that God gives us, but I am very grateful for any amount of time I get with you.
  • If I could trade places with you and take the cancer from your body as my own, I would. I can’t stand seeing you sick and in pain. Please let me know when you do need help, and I will be happy to help you and support you.
  • Since you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, can you smoke marijuana legally now?
  • Normally, I wouldn't know who to put my money on. Since cancer chose to go against the strongest person I know, I know you'll come out the winner.
  • Even cancer is temporary, as is every unpleasant thing in life.
  • Take care of yourself, and let the cancer take care of itself.
  • Getting well is just the beginning. I want you in remission, permanently!
